From: "Greg Gallager" <ggallag@red-bean.com> 0. How (that is, by whom) did you join Red Bean, and approximately when? Who in Red Bean knows you in real life, so we could ask them if you suddenly appear to disappear? Karl Fogel tried to seduce me several months ago, and I turned my nose up at him because I though this was a "Free Software Developer" thing only. I didn't know you guys took in sysadmin junkies. I came back to him later, begging for a home and affection ... have been a member since Aug. 1999 1. Do you use Red Bean as your primary email address and/or primary Web server (i.e., is your home page here)? It isn't my primary e-mail address, greg@dahak.com is, but I use it in conjunction with it. Along with greg@ragetech.com for consulting. My web pages are coming over shortly, actually... need to do that soon. 2. Do you know anything about Unix system administration? Programming? Tell everything about you and computers... :-) I know nothing, ask me nothing. Alright, I do know a few things. In college a friend put Linux on my box. Then he left me with it, no instructions nada. It was Slackware. First, I learned how to get back to Windows (which I thought was safer) then learned to compile, administrate and ultimatly shoot myself in the foot with my new Linux toy. I worked for a few ISPs who like Linux because of the cost, and have gradually moved into Solaris Administration. That's where I sit now: Linux is a great workstation or very small server, Solaris just rocks out for stable web, database and NFS servers. MMmmm, give me an Ultra any day. My business card says "UNIX Systems Administrator" and it always will, although I can throw together a buggy program or script just like the rest; but the real action's in Sysadmin, baby. Sysadmin's get the girls. Well, no... not on this planet, but certainly somewhere. 3. Anything else about yourself you'd like made known? Put it here, anything goes. I hang my hat in Chicago, right along my psychotic roomate's, another Red Beaner -- Lefty. I work for a clearing house for the Chicago Options Exchange, and it's really fun. They let me take vacations (that's a good thing) and I learn lots of things and play on big, expensive toys. When I'm not working, I like to mindlessly sit infront of cable (friend, mother! secret lover...) read books, rollerblade, write and lately learn French. 4. Optional information: what's your snail address and phone, in case something goes down and we need to reach you that way? (This information will not be published on the Web unless you specifically grant permission.) You can find me through my roomate, lefty. If he's missing, sell all your IBM shares and leave the country and never, never admit you knew him or me. *static* 5. Do you play bagpipes? That sounds like a Scottish pick-up line. No, I don't play bagpipes, but I play Quake. Are Bagpipes as violent and childish as Quake? No?? Well.. I'll stick to my own thing then. Actually, I used to play piano and the violin, but I don't anymore. Computers sucked the time right out of me.
