Date: Wed, 14 May 1997 19:37:58 -0400 From: Robert Jasiek Subject: FG flags Please accept my apologies for the very late discussion about FG. Before having read draft 10 I did not have the slightest idea what could have been meant with the FG property values. Only now I know, why flags are needed and very useful. FG has a good specification. However, now I think it might be even better. Whether or not all or part of the following should be part of SGF or only of a client's user interface, is not quite clear to me. So please comment. - game infos on/off (value: 0/128) - comment on/off (value: 0/256) - border closed/open (value: 0/512) border closed means: grid has border line on edges with no crossing lines. border open means: grid has no border line on edges different from minimal/maximal coordinates of board size and half lines goto outside - hoshi dots on/off: (value: 0/1024) - thick borderline on/off: (value: 0/2048) - list all move1 on move2 cases on/off: (value: 0/4096) - list all ko captures on/off: (value: 0/8192) - list lists sequential / grouped as to first placed stone: (value: 0/16384) - show # captures on/off: (value: 0/32768) Printing has more characteristics. With a further property PS for Printing style reediting of diagrams' printing formats would become superfluous (optional). Color, Size (mmxmm), Place_Upper_Left_Corner, Places_Of_Parts_Of_Print. I mean the layout of a whole book could be in SGF without need for further graphics programs. (Seems PS is too late for FF[4], but part of the FG extensions can still be included.) BTW, many, many thanks to Arno for his great help! --robert jasiek
